Axapta was originally founded in 1983 by a Danish company Damgaard Data A/S. In 2002 it was acquired by Microsoft and in 2007 it took on its new name Microsoft Dynamics® AX. It now sits within the Microsoft Dynamics suite of Microsoft ERP & CRM business management systems.
